Colin Kaepernick

Colin Kaepernick was the quarterback for the 49ers. During a game at the national anthem, Kaepernick was the first in the professional sports leagues to take a knee during the national anthem to protest the police brutality that was going on against African Americans. He brought in major attention from everyone, and when asked he said he is doing it to protest the police brutality. After that season he was released and when they questioned the coach he said he was released because of his skill and not because of the protest. After that many people followed in his footsteps and now protest police brutality by taking a knee during the national anthem.

Play Do Project

I was given some play do and was told make something that I like. I made pizza because that is my favorite food to eat. I usually have pizza at fun events like birthdays, parties, or some other type of party. I usually have a good time during parties and pizza is another element that makes parties better. My favorite is pepperoni pizza from any Italian restaurant like Maciano’s or Rosati’s. That’s why I chose to make pizza because it is my favorite food and the only thing I can think of.

Net Neutrality

What is your social issue?

My social issue is whether or not internet users should or shouldn’t pay for the internet. The side that I am on is the side that says it should remain free rather than companies purposely slowing down your internet and making you pay for it.

Why is it such a social issue?  What do people disagree about in relation to this topic?

It is a big issue because it will effect all internet users, which is probably everyone, and if the bill is passed than everyday internet users will be effected. People disagree saying that the internet should remain free and that the internet should remain neutral for everybody.

What is your proposed solution?  Why do you think this is the best solution?

My proposed solution is to say not to the bill that says the internet should be controlled by the companies and have them make us pay for internet that they could control for us. This is the best solution because it will get rid of the topic in the government buildings.

What are pros to your solution?

Some pros to my solution is that they couldn’t bring the topic back up for a long time if the people decline the bill and it will get rid of the topic and internet users won’t have to worry.

What are cons to your solution?

Some cons to the solution is that not everyone will decline the bill because people will think that the bill will benefit them when it won’t, it will only benefit the major companies that will make more money off of you.

Any questions to your audience members for help on your topic?

2 questions that I have are, what is the best solution? And how will it work?

Super Bowl Commercials

This commercial was meant to sell Tide products. In the video it copies other popular commercials and they were making fun of them. Some of the ads deal with other businesses like a car ad, a lawyer ad, a beverage ad that was supposed to be Coke, and more. It says that all commercials with people with clean clothes is probably a tide ad because they have clean clothes.

This commercial is about Amazon Alexa. It is supposed to be a funny commercial about how Alexa loses her voice and they have many different celebrities like Gordon Ramsey, Cardi B, and many more, were working Alexa instead of using it’s original voice. The ad is meant to be funny and they are trying to promote their Amazon Alexa products.  This is one of a few funny commercials during Super Bowl LII.

This commercial was sponsored by Ram (a truck company). This ad shows a Ram truck pulling a boat filled with vikings on it. The vikings represent the Minnesota Vikings (a NFL team) that made it to the NFC championship against the Philadelphia Eagles, but lost to them in a high scoring game. It shows the truck driving to Minnesota (their home field and also where the super bowl was hosted), but they turn around before they get their because the Eagles eliminated them from the playoffs. It is meant to promote the Ram truck, but it was also funny because they were making fun of the Vikings not making it to the Super Bowl.

Net Neutrality

The topic of net neutrality is very controversial because it could potentially effect everyone that has access to the internet. On the website the poles show that man people no matter what race, state, or education everyone has a higher percent saying no to net neutrality. Overall including the ethnicity and gender it says that 83% say no to the topic and 17% of people that say yes to net neutrality. The polls are very close, for example white people said 17% said yes and 83% said no. African Americans said 16% yes and 84% no. Asians had the same statistics as African American’s. Native Americans had the same statistics as white people. 30% of republicans said yes to net neutrality and 70% said no to net neutrality. 11% of democrats say yes and 89% of democrats say no to the topic. 33% of libertarians say yes to net neutrality and 67% say no. 6% of people from the green party say yes and the other 94% say no. Socialists have the same statistics as people from the green party. 17% of veterans say yes to the topic and the other 83% say no. Overall the statistics are mostly the same for different ethnicity, but when it come to views like democrat or republican than the view changes.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November. It is celebrated because it originated as a harvest festival. The event that Americans commonly call the “First Thanksgiving” was celebrated by the Pilgrims after their first harvest in the New World in October 1621. The main course is usually turkey and their are many different sides that could be made. It usually takes all day to prepare the food for dinner time. Family usually gathers together and goes to one persons’s house, to celebrate the holiday. Family that comes over, usually stay the whole day and celebrate the holiday with the family.
